Committee Descriptions:

WOYC Committee:

The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by NAEYC to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. NAEYC designates the dates and theme. Events are planned, promoted and implemented locally. Our committee meets monthly and is comprised of providers, directors, and other community members. We try to hold meetings during naptime or in the evening, which allows direct-care providers a better opportunity to join us.

Conference Committee:

To plan, organize, and present an annual conference that delivers six hours of quality trainings to early childhood providers which provides an understanding of the expanding early childhood base, develops skills that improve professional practice through active learning approaches for adults at an affordable cost.

Membership Committee:

Promote YAAEYC/NAEYC to the community and recruit new members. Support Membership Chair (can be done by email) in carrying out responsibilities, e.g., reviewing documents. Committee meets once yearly or on an as needed basis.

Accreditation / Public Policy Committee:

Responsibilities include keeping the YAAEYC membership and York County early childhood educators abreast of current legislative issues and opportunities for advocacy on local, state and national levels.  Opportunities often arise requiring the profession to join forces with other members of the state to be involved with legislative action. This committee is in place to make the early childhood profession aware of these instances as well as lead the action. The accreditation piece includes sharing information on the NAEYC accreditation process; it’s changes and updates, and offering accreditation support when needed to YAAEYC members through phone calls and possible on site visits.

Finance Committee:

Coordinate financial matters, including budget, audit, taxes, policies and procedures, record-keeping, annual budget recommendations, Board financial reports.

Program Committee:

Establish and oversee YAAEYC sponsored programs that are geared towards early child care professionals, educators and parents. Recruit trainers, insure proper training credentials and advertise programming. Compile questionnaires regarding trainings. (Not responsible for yearly YAAEYC conference.)

Publicity Committee:
Publicize YAAEYC functions and educate the public. Develop a working relationship with the media, community organizations, and affiliate groups. Produce the YAAEYC Newsletter.

In a brief essay, answer these questions and attach to this sheet
